How Powerful Are the Lights You Install?

When it comes to brightening an outdoor space, the best wattage for outdoor landscape lighting is 80 watts maximum. Utilizing 40 watts bulbs is best suited for pathways. Despite this, watts only measures the power consumed, while lumens actually demonstrates how bright a bulb is.

Lumens for West Michigan Outdoor Lighting

  • Flood lights – 700 lumens
  • Path Lights and Stair Lights – 200 lumens
  • Motion Sensor Lights – 300-700 lumens

OUTDOOR LIGHTING Q&A

West Michigan Landscape Lighting Installation

How Long Do Your Lights Last?

All lights have varying lifespans. Led lights last the longest, with a longevity ranging from 25,000 to 100,000 hours, and are the most ideal types of lights for residential and commercial outdoor spaces. LED lights are energy efficient, meaning you’ll most likely save money on your next energy bill, and don’t need to be replaced as frequently as other types of light. For example, halogen lights only last 2,500 hours in comparison to LEDS, while incandescent bulbs last 1,200 hours.

Is Forest View’s Lighting Energy Efficient?

Yes! If you’re interested in lighting that produces less pollution and saves energy, LED lights are the way to go. Many LED lights use less wattage, and therefore up to 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs. They also last 25 times longer. A home that switches all of their bulbs to LED will save around $1,000 over ten years, or $8.33 a month. This example is just to demonstrate how cost-effective LEDs truly are.

Solar lights are another possibility and are growing in popularity. This eco-friendly and green lighting alternative is battery operated and utilizes sunlight to recharge. The batteries are also often recyclable, making them even more appealing to those with the environment in mind. Solar lighting is easy and inexpensive to install; trenches won’t need to be dug and they don’t have to be hard-wired.

Is Forest View’s Outdoor Lighting Hardwired?

Not all of our lighting is hardwired; however, we can install hardwired landscape lighting if requested. We can install path lights as well as spot and floodlights. Hardwired lights are beneficial for those that don’t want their outdoor lighting dependent on batteries.

Do Your Lights Require Specialty Bulbs?

Most of our outdoor lights don’t require specialty bulbs. Many can function through the use of incandescent bulbs, LEDs, or floodlights. Outdoor lighting is a stylish way to add high-impact to your home. If you’d like to invest in unique lighting that requires specialty bulbs, give us a call.
